More About Radar Hill
If you haven’t heard of them yet, Radar Hill is the current project featuring musicians Robert Lloyd Peeples, Carl Gonzalez, Bob Gonzalez and Chris Manhen. The band developed as a result of the musical partnership that Robert, Carl and Bob formed while attending Ohio University.
The three musicians formed the highly successful band “Think” in 2000. For the next five years, the band performed in and around the Athens, Ohio area and also made trips to Nashville, Virginia Beach and several stops in northern Ohio including Cleveland and Conneaut.
They released their debut album in 2003 titled “Thank You for Your Misfortunes” on the indy label Tempest Records.
In 2005, Robert, Carl and Bob decided that the Think project had run its course, and though the three continued to write and perform separately over the next five years, it was not until September of 2010 that all three members shared the same stage together again.
Peeples went on to develop a substantial following in the Cleveland area, performing his electro-acoustic music as a solo artist and in various bands. He also began experimenting with a loop station to further expand his sound on stage as a solo artist. During this time, he opened for the likes of Woodstock legend Country Joe McDonald.
Following the McDonald show in March of 2010 which featured Bob Gonzalez backing Robert on percussion, the two began discussing the possibility of resurrecting the Think project with a new bass player and leaving the door open for other instrumentation possibilities as well. In August of the same year, Robert, Bob and Carl auditioned bassist Chris Mahnen, a veteran of several Cleveland-area bands and immediately chose him to be the anchor of the new group.
Radar Hill on the Horizon
